Rycote Windshield Rain Jacket Medium

Rycote Windshield Rain Jacket Medium | A rain layer for microphone windshields

Rycote Windshield Rain Jacket Medium is a rain jacket for a medium microphone windshield, made for recording situations where weather can become part of the job. It suits field recordists and sound crews working outdoors who want a dedicated rain layer in their audio setup. Its role is specific: this isnt a general-purpose cover, but a jacket intended for a windshield. That makes it relevant for location dialogue, interviews or other outdoor recordings when rain is a concern. The name gives you the key sizing cue: Medium. Choose it when that size matches the windshield in your setup; the size label matters because a rain jacket needs to suit the equipment its covering. Its a focused accessory rather than a complicated piece of kit, and its value is in having a purpose-built option ready when conditions turn wet.

For outdoor recording days

Keep it with the audio gear you take to exterior locations, so its available when a forecast changes or a light shower starts during a recording. A rain jacket can help you plan for wet conditions, but it isnt a substitute for checking the weather or taking care of the rest of your equipment. For indoor sessions or dry locations, it may simply stay packed away. Its usefulness is tied to the conditions and to having the correctly sized windshield in your setup.

Specialist Note

Rain starts to fall as an interview is about to begin outside, and this is the sort of small, specific accessory Id want ready in the sound kit. The Rain Jacket name tells you its job: it gives a windshield a rain-focused cover, rather than trying to solve every outdoor recording problem. Medium is the sizing cue to pay attention to; its for a setup that calls for a medium jacket, not a universal fit. Id consider it for location interviews or exterior dialogue where showers are possible. My honest advice is to treat the size as part of the match, and not assume Medium suits every windshield.
